Documentary Segment

From PiTiViWiKi

This example is admittedly somewhat contrived. It may not represent a typical editing situation, but it does succinctly exercise all of PiTivi's major concepts and features: sources, transitions, and effects.

Situation

The editor is editing documentary segment about labor relations and politics. In this segment, an interview between a university professor of history is intercut with footage a public demonstration.

  • Whenver the professor is on-screen, a title card identifying the professor needs to be shown. (compositing)
  • The editor would like to keep the interview audio continuous while the footage of the street scene is playing.
  • The editor wants to use a crossfade transition when cutting between the professor and the protesters.
  • The street scene footage was taken with a consumer digital camera, and is of poor quality
    • The footage was not properly white balanced. The editor applies a white balance filter to correct for this.
    • The audio quality is poor. The editor wants to replace the street scene audio with cleaner audio from a separate recording of the same event.
